The Wood River High School student took second place statewide in Pantomine in the 2022 State Drama Competition held recently in Coeur d’Alene. And Asia Angel tied for fourth in Serious Solo out of eight finalists, which included students from far bigger schools.
Wood River High School’s drama team placed in the top 10 at the Idaho High School Activities Association (IHSAA0) competition, which fielded 60 teams.
Holden Blair, Piper Kolb and Asia Angel advanced to the semi-final round, with Kolb and Angel going on to the finals. Others on the team included Elena Tamayo, Eva Hatzenbuehler and Madison Flannigan.
“I am very proud of this small but mighty group as they are the first team to have actors place in the top five, and they scored more points than any team I have coached in 15 years,” said WRHS Drama and Speech Coach Karl Nordstrom. “It was a battle just to get there due to the weather and bad roads. But, once we did, the kids were very focused and the results reflect that.”
