Galena Lodge will be rip-roaring busy this weekend.
It’ll host the International Spring Series races on Thursday and Saturday—April 4 and 6--with races being held on Jenny’s Way and in Senate Meadows. Parking will be limited, but the lodge will be open to the public.
Shuttles to Galena Lodge will run from the Baker Creek parking lot beginning at 7:30 a.m. and continuing until an hour after the final races.
The lodge will close out the season on Sunday, March 7, following the 21st annual Ride Stride Glide winter triathlon.
The fun, relay-style race will be held at 9:30 a.m. on the Nordic trails surrounding the lodge. Plan on a 9-kilometer bike ride, a 4.4K run and a 9K ski.
You can participate as a team or go solo. Be sure to wear a costume.
There is also a shorter kids’ and youth course.
The cost is $25 for a solo racer or $60 for a three-person team, and the entry fee gets you a mug of soup. Proceeds go to the Galena Youth Adventure Camp Scholarship Fund. Register online at https://galenalodge.com or register onsite beginning at 8:30 a.m.
The trails around Galena are holding up well, despite near record temperatures, according to the Blaine County Recreation District. Grooming will continue there for the next couple weeks, at least, even though you won’t be able to polish off your ski with an espresso at the lodge.
